How to take care of Aging Skin

27 April 2020

Why You Need Anti-Aging Skin Care

Healthy skin is made up of a combination of collagen and elastin, two proteins that ensure skin feels supple and plump, brimming with elasticity that prevents sagging and droopiness. Maintaining high levels of collagen and elastin, along with following a healthy diet and lifestyle, helps keep skin looking radiant and youthful. However, after about the age of 20, our bodies slowly decrease the amount of collagen and elastin they produce, which means some signs of aging may be inevitable. Less elastin and collagen cause our skin to become more fragile and thinner as we age, and more susceptible to wrinkles and skin imperfections

But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t use anti-aging skin care and just give in to the inevitable. That’s because most of the triggers for aging skin are caused by external forces. The main external force that can drastically damage our skin is the sun. Going out in the sun with our skin unprotected exposes us to harmful UVA and UVB rays. Extended exposure to these rays can have detrimental effects such as premature aging, wrinkles, sunspots and, in the worst cases, skin cancer. UV exposure also can break down collagen and impair collagen production, which could cause premature aging. Another external force that can contribute to signs of aging is not actively taking care of our skin at an early age. When we are young and staying out late or rushing out the door early to get to school or work, we may not take the time to treat our skin properly by cleansing and moisturizing every day. When we don’t do that, dead skin cells and impurities can build up on the surface of our skin, dulling its natural glow and leaving us more susceptible to those signs of aging

Anti-aging skin care is crucial to keeping our complexion in the best possible condition to help ensure that those fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven tone and texture are prevented for as long as possible. But there are a lot of skin care products out there that claim to work miracles, so it can be tough knowing where to start. When you have the right foundational products, you can build an effective, results-driven anti-aging skin care routine

Get the Best Anti-Aging Skin Care Routine

DERMA E anti-aging skin care products are formulated with the highest-quality ingredients that nurture your complexion so it looks luminous. Committing to an appropriate skin care routine of cleansing, toning and hydrating, and following simple steps such as removing makeup every night, helps maintain a clear and vibrant complexion

One of the most important parts of your anti-aging skin care routine is sunscreen. Applying a lightweight face sunscreen like our All Sport Face Sunscreen SPF 30 (water resistant for 80 minutes) or Sun Defense Mineral Oil-Free Sunscreen Face every day, alone or under makeup, can help to protect skin from UVA/UVB rays, which may prevent unwanted effects of sun exposure. In addition to applying a face sunscreen, using a body sunscreen can help to keep you protected while having a day out in the sun. Applying an even layer of our quick-drying, water-resistant All Sport Spray Sunscreen Spray SPF 50 helps to protect skin from collagen-damaging free radicals for up to 80 minutes. Protection from sun damage using a broad-spectrum sunscreen of at least 30 SPF and reapplying when needed helps blocks those UVA/UVB rays from inflicting damage to your skin!

Prevention helps keep signs of aging at bay, but because of decreased amounts of collagen and elastin, some wrinkles and fine lines may appear naturally. However, adding anti-aging skin care products such as our Anti-Wrinkle Toner and Cleanser—which feature effective ingredients such as Retinol, Vitamin A, Bakuchiol and Glycolic Acid—can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Other ingredients such as Matrixyl®synthe’6®, Argireline and Pycnogenol®, which are featured in our Skin Restore line, are known for their anti-aging benefits. They help to reduce the appearance of fine line and wrinkles, softening and smoothing skin, and may help to support healthy collagen growth

Incorporating these products before signs of aging appear can help to maintain a healthy-looking complexion or restore a youthful appearance. Taking care of your skin today will help keep imperfections from forming tomorrow
